Covington Development, LLC

The principals of Covington Development, LLC and affiliated associates are builders and developers of large corporate properties, skilled nursing, as well as residential subdivisions and multi-family complexes in Putnam, Dutchess, Westchester and New York Counties. The principals of Covington have been responsible for the major portion of the development of the eastern side of Putnam. Covington, or various combinations of Covington’s principals, typically act as developers for their own properties and in addition provide consulting services to owners, investors and financial institutions. The expertise of Covington’s in house personnel and affiliated associates includes site planning, the securing of municipal and related agency approvals, obtaining construction and permanent financing, leasing, marketing and sales, construction management and property management.

Harold Lepler and Larry Nadel organized Covington after nearly ten years of project development together in Putnam and Dutchess Counties.

Most recently, Covington is in the final stages of the 380,000 square foot Power Center in Brewster, New York known as The Highlands. The project is anchored by The Home Depot, Kohls, Marshalls, Linen-N-Things and Michaels Arts and Crafts.

Harold Lepler

Harold Lepler brings to the Covington group more than thirty years experience in all aspects of real estate sales and development. With a strong background in sales and marketing. Mr. Lepler founded Spectra Realty, Inc. of Brewster in the 1970’s, now known as Prudential Commercial Real Estate Covington Properties. His achievements include both residential and commercial ventures and his expertise encompasses not only site selection and planning, but securing of approvals as well as the build-out, sale and leasing of projects. He has been actively involved in developing three Putnam County office parks, which contains over 3,000,000 square feet of commercial space. Amongst his projects the most notable are Robin Hill Corporate Park, Mt. Ebo Corporate Center, Terravest Corporate Park, Clock Tower Commons, Brewster Highlands, Fieldstone Pond and Reed Farm.

Mr. Lepler received a B.Sc. in biochemistry from the University of Vermont and spent two years at New York Medical College before entering the United States Army in 1964 where he spent one year on active service and six years in the reserves.

Mr. Lepler joined Polariod Corporation in 1965 as Director of Marketing/New Product Development, and Regional Sales Manager with direct sales responsibility, where he remained four years before joining Maidenform Corporation in a Sales/Marketing position achieving the single highest volume increase in sales each year in three separate divisions over a period of four years. Known for his ability for launching the sales start-up and distribution networks for entirely new division, Mr. Lepler became responsible for the company’s sportswear division, and set up the marketing and sales division for a new swimwear line, taking the product from no sales activity to $8 million in the first year.

Mr. Lepler’s other activities include being a founding director of Country Bank, director of Putnam Community Hospital, the Salvation Army, Hudson Valley Chapter of United Cerebral Palsy, New York state Economic Development Commission and founding member of the Brewster Education Foundation.

Lawrence Nadel

Lawrence Nadel began his career in the heavy construction industry. After working summers on two different tunnel-building projects in Manhattan, he graduated Tulane University with a B.A. in economics and took a job as purchasing agent for the construction of the Tenleytown and Friendship Heights stations of the Washington Metro Transit System. When the job was completed in 1980 Mr. Nadel was transferred to the Headquarters of the project’s sponsor: MacLean, Grove and Company, Inc. He became part of the companies estimating team until he was reassigned to the companies acquisitions program. Mr. Nadel worked on a team that acquired a series of companies in the construction and energy business’.

In 1982 Mr. Nadel started a real estate development division within MacLean, Grove and was promoted to a Vice President of the company. He has been active in the Westchester/Putnam and Fairfield County real estate markets since then. In 1994 he founded and became President of Nadel Associates, Inc.

Along with Mr. Lepler, Mr. Nadel is part owner of Covington Development, LLC and Prudential Commercial Real Estate Covington Properties. His experience includes real estate sales, leasing and site development with a particular emphasis on large industrial, retail, office, skilled nursing and planned residential communities.

He has served on various community boards and is a member of the exclusive heavy construction industry association: The Moles.
